Walking around Ubud is an experience in itself. There is a famous story told by Janet DeNeefe, initiator of the Ubud Readers & Writers Festival, that once a speaker has an obstacle before the event and decides to go for a walk around Ubud. You can also rent bikes or motorbikes. Many visitors prefer bicycles because of environmental reasons. However, because Ubud is in a mountainous area, the road tends to be steep. If you feel tired to paddle, the choice of the motorbike is a more reasonable choice. Cars are usually only used when you want to go outside Ubud.
