Balitraveldiary.com – Not only beaches and nature attractions. But it also has an interesting historical place. Taman Ujung Karangasem is one of them. This place is widely known as a favorite photo prewedding location in Bali and is known as a water palace inherited from the Kingdom of Karangasem. In the Dutch colonial era, Ujung Park was called by the name Waterpaleis which means water palace.
The bride and groom chose Taman Ujung Karangasem as a favorite photo prewedding location because this building has amazing architecture. The park, known as Taman Sukasada, was built in 1909 at the request of the King of Karangasem Kingdom, I Gusti Bagus Jelantik, who was titled Anak Agung Agung Ketut Karangasem Anglurah.
The development of Ujung Karangasem Park was carried out using the services of the Dutch architect van Den Hentz and architecture from China named Loto Ang. Even so, the water palace building was created using Balinese architectural designs. The construction of this palace was originally an extension of the Dirah Pool which had been built in 1901.
The construction of this water palace requires quite a long time. Just imagine, only in 1921, the construction of the Ujung Park was officially completed. Furthermore, the palace which was recorded as a private ownership right of the Karangasem Royal family was made a marble inscription written in two languages, namely Balinese and Malay.
Unfortunately, the existence of this water palace eroded by the times. At the beginning of its construction, Ujung Karangasem Park had an area of 400 hectares. However, at present the water palace complex is only 10 hectares. The reason for the reduced land in this palace is because most of its territory was distributed to the people during the land reform.
In addition, Ujung Karangasem Park has also experienced very severe damage. The damage occurred precisely in 1963. The damage was caused by the eruption of Mount Agung, known as the highest mountain on the island of Bali.
Furthermore, the Provincial Government of Bali has also carried out improvements to the condition of the buildings in this place. These include the renovation process in 2000. The renovation process was carried out without making changes to the original design of the building.
This Ujung Park is located in Banjar Ujung which is included in the Tumbu Village area in Karangasem District, Bali. To go to this one tourist spot, the best way that can be used is to use a private vehicle rental service. Moreover, the availability of public transportation to get to this place is quite minimal.
The tourists who are interested in the beautiful architecture of the building in the Ujung Karangasem water palace do not need to spend a lot of money. The entrance ticket charged by the manager of this tourist spot is only IDR 10,000 per person. Furthermore, there is a car parking fee of five thousand rupiah.
As stated above, this tourist site is better known as a photo prewedding location than as a historical tourist spot. The unique architecture of the building in this place makes it an attractive place. Comes with a blend of Balinese, European and Chinese architectural designs. For those who want to hold a photo prewedding session here, an entry fee of Rp. 600,000 will be charged.
