Balitraveldiary.com – Most of the people of Indonesia know the name of the Majapahit Kingdom. The kingdom, centered in Mojokerto, succeeded in uniting the archipelago. The traces of its existence can be traced in various regions of the country, including in Bali. In fact, due to the history of Majapahit’s presence in Bali, the culture of the Balinese people is similar to the traditions in Java.
The presence of the soldiers from the Majapahit Kingdom on the island of Bali is not just to set foot. Through troops led directly by Patih Gajah Mada, Majapahit managed to conquer the island of the Gods as a whole. It’s just that the people of Bali have a high tenacity and do not simply fall into the hands of Majapahit. In fact, Gajah Mada does a variety of ways including, cunning methods.
Kakawin Nagarakertagama recounts in detail the events of the conquest of Bali by Majapahit. It is not mentioned in this ejection when the first arrival of Majapahit troops in Bali. There is only information that says that in 1343, Bali had fallen into the hands of Majapahit. On the other hand, Gajahmada was appointed as Patih Amangkubumi in 1334.
The conquest of Bali was the first invasion by Majapahit to an area outside Java. Previously, Majapahit only conquered in areas around East Java, including Madura. In this ejection, the process of conquering Bali by Majapahit was told with great heroism, showing the figure of Gajah Mada that was hard to beat.
The full story is written in the Chronicle of Arya Kutawaringin. Here, it is told that the process of conquest of Bali did not take place smoothly. The Balinese people fought very fiercely. In fact, because of the various rebellions, Bali is said to have experienced chaos. Patih Gajah Mada also had difficulty coping with the various rebellions.
These rulers were deliberately chosen by Gajah Mada from the Aryan group or the chief of the Majapahit army. They were appointed to settle in several areas in Bali and control the stability of their respective territories. The rulers are Arya Kenceng in Tabanan, Arya Kutawaringin in Gelgel, Arya Dalancang on Ships, Arya Belog in Kaba-Kaba, Arya Sentong in Crangsari, and others.
However, a rather different story is written in the Babad Dalem. In this ejection it was mentioned that Patih Gajah Mada appointed one person as the ruler of the island of Bali. The figure appointed by Gajah Mada is Sri Aji Kresna Kepakisan. Furthermore, Sri Aji Kresna who was a nobleman from the Land of Java, established a castle in the Samprangan area, Gianyar.
During the reign of Sri Aji Kresna Kepakisan, Bali was still in chaos. The Bali Aga community, who are native to Bali, strongly condemned the policies adopted by Sri Aji Kresna Kepakisan. Moreover, after the existence of troops that forced entry into the area inhabited by the people of Bali Aga in the highlands.
In tackling the Bali Aga rebellion, Sri Aji Kresna Kepakisan experienced great difficulties. In fact, this ruler is reportedly not comfortable and wants to return to Java.
